Image Resolution Guide
The resolution of your image refers to the amount of small colored dots that are used to make up the image you want to print. Typically we express this in a means known as DPI, or dots per inch.
A good rule of thumb for printed material is that your resolution should not be less than 300 DPI when you want to print that image.
The higher the DPI, the better your resolution and likewise, the better the quality of the image that you will produce. There is however, something known as overkill. When you go upwards past the 300 DPI mark, the file weight, or the size of the file that you will send is much larger and tends to be unwieldy.
When you increase the resolution of your image, you will reduce the size of it.If you enlarge it and lower the resolution then the image will print less crisply.
To print your images, the best resolution that you can use will be the 300 DPI, while for text, 400DPI is ideal.
This chart offers you the best resolution and size to give you optimal printing.
